Significant Club Projects Achievements

2009/2010 – President Mike Ng Swee Leng
Rotary Theme “THE FUTURE OF ROTARY IS IN YOUR HANDS”

Our club implemented a TRF Matching Grant Project in Taipei City, Taiwan as the International Partner by contributing USD$2,000.00 with our sister club RC Taipei Castle, R.I, District 3480 Taiwan. The Matching Grant Project #72248 costing USD$28,000 is to establish an ecological park at Lung-An Elementary School in Taipei City, Taiwan. Started the first ROTALOOK Project with our sister club RC Udonthani, R.I. District 3340 Thailand where Udonthani Rotarians open their homes to host our children giving them the opportunity to experience different culture and learn about the local customs, languages, traditions and family life in another foreign country. Our club was recognized with district awards for Best Bulletin For Club With Less Than 25 Members – Electronic 2nd Runner Up and District Governor’s Recognition Award For Outstanding Club Report And Power Point Presentation.

2008/2009 – President M. Gunalan Machap
Rotary Theme “MAKE DREAMS REAL”

Our club implemented two TRF Matching Grant Projects in Udonthani, Thailand as the International Partner utilizing District Designated Fund (DDF) from our R.I. District 3300 Malaysia with our sister club RC Udonthani, R.I, District 3480 Thailand. They are Matching Grant #68823 costing USD$19,000 to provide equipment for Disabled Children Centres in Udonthani, Thailand and Matching Grant #68794 costing USD$13,000 to provide school equipment for Ban Nong Waeng Hee School located in Nong Waeng Hee Village, Nong Wua So District, Udon Thani Province, Thailand.

2007/2008 – President Steven Chong Teck Min
Rotary Theme “ROTARY SHARES”

Our club received approval from The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International to implement two Matching Grant Projects with contributions from our sister club RC Taipei Castle R.I. District 3480 Taiwan ROC and utilizing District Designated Fund (DDF) from our R.I. District 3300 Malaysia and our International Partner R.I. District 3400 Indonesia. They are Matching Grant #64930 costing USD$18,000 to provide tables and chairs to Pulau Sebang Secondary School and Matching Grant #64931 costing USD$10,000 to provide rehabilitation equipment for Occupational Therapy Unit of Tampin Hospital. Received the R.I. Presidential Citation for “ROTARY SHARES”.

2006/2007 – President Gan Boon Kiong
Rotary Theme “LEAD THE WAY”

Our club participated in two World Community Service (WCS) Projects in Thailand with our sister club RC Udonthani, R.I. District 3340 namely “Shelter for the Poor” and “Clean Water for Life” projects. For the first time our Rotary Friendship Visit to Thailand also included a visit to RC Suphanburi, R.I. District 3330 to further promote international understanding and goodwill. Hosted twelve students from RC Medan Merdeka, R.I. District 3400 Indonesia under the reciprocal Rotary Youth Exchange Short Term Program to Malaysia. Chartered our second Interact Club, which is the first Interact Club in Tampin the Interact Club of SMK Taman Indah. Received District Governor’s Recognition Significant Long Term Projects for PDK, Rotary Day & Medical Outreach and District Governor’s Recognition Formation of New Interact Club. Winner of electronic media bulletin for club below 25 members.

2005/2006 – President Lawrence Tan Yong Chua
Rotary Theme “SERVICE Above Self”

Our club carried out the “GOLDEN CHILD” Project for the first time as a project partner with RC Petaling Jaya and RC Hong Kong Island West at A’ Famosa Resort. This project is to bring cheers to cancer stricken children by organizing fun-filled activities for them over the weekend at the resort. The Education Aids Programs that provides education aids to poor needy students in the form of financial contributions to meet their educational expenses was successfully implemented for the eleventh year. This is made possible through the generosity of our Honorary Member Mr. Tay Yew Keng who has donated RM5,000 consecutively for the past ten years towards this program and from this year onwards he has increased his cash donation to RM10,000 that will ensure that this program continue to benefit more poor needy students in future.

2004/2005 – President Lim Chong Hock
Rotary Theme “Celebrate Rotary”

Our club received many district awards and recognitions for Rotary Centennial projects and activities such as the Road Safety Awareness Campaign, Centennial Twin Clubs, ROTARY@WORK 100 Service Hours Marathon and The Rotary Foundation EREY Program. The Rotary Foundation approved a matching grant with our international sponsor from Rotary Club of La Quinta, RI District 5330 California, USA worth USD$8,000.00 with USD$2,000 funding from our District Designated Fund (DDF). The Matching Grant Project # 55684 is to provide audio equipment for twelve primary schools in Tampin. Received the R.I. Presidential Citation for “CELEBRATE ROTARY”.

2003/04 – President Tai Nam Sin
RI Theme ” Lend A Hand “

The Rotary Foundation approved a matching grant with our international sponsor sister club RC Taipei Castle District 3480 Taiwan worth USD$3,500.00 that utilised for first time USD$1,000 from our District Designated Fund (DDF). The Matching Grant Project # 50995 is to provide safe drinking water for students at three primary schools in Tampin. For the first time our club sent nine students to participate in a Rotary Youth Exchange Short Term Program to Medan, R.I. District 3400 Indonesia that pave the way for our future participation in such international youth exchange project for the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace. Received R.I. Presidential Citation for “LEND A HAND” and Family of Rotary Meritorious Award.

2002/03 – President Tan Chin Sing
RI Theme ” Sow The Seeds Of Love “

Completed the first Rotary Foundation Matching Grant Project abroad for our sister club RC Udonthani District 3340 Thailand worth US$28,000.00 as joint co-international sponsor together with our sister club RC Taipei Castle District 3480 Taiwan. The Matching Grant Project #22106 provided 1,081 bicycles to students in need in Udonthani Province of Thailand. This Matching Grant Project titled “Bicycles for Children in Udonthani, Thailand” won the District Meritorious Award for International Service Project. Received R.I. Presidential Citation for “SOW THE SEEDS OF LOVE”.

2001/02 – President Lioh Cheng Lim
RI Theme ” Mankind Is Our Business”

Won four district awards. Outstanding Rotary Club President Award, District Outstanding Project Award New Generations Service “Rotary Youth Eco Camp 2002″ Project, District Outstanding Club Bulletin Award and District Governor’s Outstanding Project Recognition Award “13th ROTARY DAY Project”. Completed two Rotary Foundation Matching Grant Projects worth USD$10,000.00 with our international sponsor sister club RC Taipei Castle District 3480 Taiwan. The Matching Grant Project # 20333 to supply a portable defibrillator to the Accident & Emergency Department of Tampin Hospital for life saving cardiac emergencies costing USD$6,000.00. Matching Grant Project # 20345 for “Rural Estates School Project” to provide school uniforms, school bags, shoes and stationery to underprivileged students in rural estates primary schools costing USD$4,000.00.

2000/01 – President Ng Boon Kway
RI Theme ” Create Awareness Take Action”

Completed Matching Grant Project # 15465 with our international partner sister club RC Taipei Castle District 3480 Taiwan to provide teaching aids equipment to Special Needs Children’s Clinic of Tampin Community Health Department. Total cost of project amounted to USD$8,000.00. Received R.I. Presidential Citation for “CREATE AWARENESS AND TAKE ACTION”.

1999/00 – President Tee Boon Heng
RI Theme ” Act With Consistency, Credibility, Continuity”

Completed our first Matching Grant Project # 11420 with our international partner sister club RC Taipei Castle District 3480 Taiwan to supply geriatric rehabilitative equipment for senior citizens of Tampin Hospital’s Geriatric Centre. Total cost of project amounted to USD$8,000.00.

1998/99 – President Lam Pang Heng
RI Theme ” Follow Your Rotary Dream”

Our club won a total of five district awards: RI Public Relations Award 1998/99 for 10th Rotary Day Project, District Rotary Excellence Award for 10th Rotary Day Project, The Rotary Foundation Per Capita Contribution Award District, Outstanding Club Bulletin Award “BERITA TAMPIN” and District Club Attendance Award Above 80%.

1997/98 – President Gan Choong Tat
RI Theme ” Show Rotary Cares”

Received RI Presidential Citation for “SHOW ROTARY CARES”
Joint International Service Project with Sister Club RC Udonthani, Thailand R.I.District 3340 called ” NEW LIFE PAVILLION” – Center for AIDS/HIV victims.

1996/97 – President David Phang Wok Chu
RI Theme ” Build The Future With Action And Vision”

Organised the first ever Family Outing to A’Famosa Water World for special handicapped children from the Community Centers in Tampin. Received RI Presidential Citation for ” BUILD THE FUTURE WITH ACTION AND VISION”.

1995/96 – President Chin Choy Fook
RI Theme “Act With Integrity, Serve With Love, Work For Peace”

Our Club won the Most Outstanding Community Service Project Award in District 3300 for our Annual Mini Marathon/ Carnival Games & Blood Donation Campaign and this project has beeen renamed “ROTARY DAY”. Organized inaugural Charity Golfathon under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King. Yang Dipertuan Agong Tuanku Jaafar and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Najihah participated in the golf tournament held at the A’ Famosa Golf Resort that raised RM150,000 for our club charity fund.

1994/95 – President Robert Hoo Chong Chan
RI Theme ” Be A Friend “

Joint Community Service Project with the Rotary Club of Bukit Bintang to complete a Clean Water Supply Project for the orang asli community of Kg. Miku, Rembau costing RM7,000 and the Hospital Waiting Shelter Project for the convenience of the general public visiting Tampin Hospital costing RM6,000. Received special recognition from RI President Bill Huntley “BE A FRIEND” Against Drug Abuse Program Award.

1993/94 – President Lim Hock Seng
RI Theme ” Believe In What You Do, Do What You Believe In”

Joint Vocational Service Project with the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur setting up a bakery workshop for the immates of Tampin Drug Rehabilitation Centre costing RM400,000. This project earned us a visit by R.I. President Bill Huntley and 1st Lady Audrey on 12th May 1995 to RC Tampin during his travel to Malaysia for the Friendship Conference.Received the Presidential Citation Award for Balanced Club Achievements and Runner Up in District Best Club Attendance Award.

1992/93 – President Dr. Er Kang Cher
RI Theme “Real Happiness is Helping Others”

Rotary Foundation of R.I. Merit Award for being the 4th biggest per capital dues contributor in District 3300.

1990/91 – President Balwant Singh
RI Theme “Honor Rotary With Faith and Enthusiasm”

Water Hand Pump Project to supply clean water to an orang asli aborigine village costing RM5,000 together with the Rotary Club of Raffles City Singapore than in District 3300.
